This little cottage bathroom, featured in BHG, didn't always look this pretty and serene. Here's the "before:"
You can see it was a challenging space with the sloping ceilings and the washer and dryer plopped in the middle of the room. Now the laundry area is discreetly tucked away:
And look at all these shelves they added for storage:
P.S. If you love old Cary Grant movies as much as I do, then check out the post about Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House over at Hooked on Houses today.

I love what they did with that bathroom. It is so cute!
ReplyDeleteWow, they really packed a lot of storage into that teeny space! And it's so pretty too. I have my own tiny bathroom issues, so thanks for this, Julia--I have a couple of new ideas now.
ReplyDeleteLove this! I've been wanting to do beadboard and shelves in my laundry closet exactly like the picture above. Thanks for posting this.
ReplyDeleteJust Lovely!! You can't go wrong with beadboard in my book! Love the way you hid the washer/dryer and you have a shelf to boot!
ReplyDeleteI really want this bathroom! it's full of charm,

Love what they did with the bathroom...great storage ideas!
ReplyDeleteNow that's a makeover! Those baskets with the lining...I want them!! And what a great solution for the laundry.
ReplyDeletewow what a dreamy bathroom, and that organization! Wicker baskets are simply the best!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! What a great use of the space!
ReplyDeleteOooo...what a great transformation!!!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and simple. Love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this post. My motivation to do something with my laundry has been waning...this makes me want to get started on it right away!

My house could really use a make over like this in the ensuite. I don't know that white is the best choice for us though. Dark hair for all of us and a black dog can leave quite a trail behind. I would be sweeping constantly.
ReplyDeleteso clever...Love inspiration like this...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Beadboard, white, and pedestal sinks some of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteIt's very much like Sarah's little powder room makeover at A Beach Cottage! She's ahead of the design curve, I tell you. :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful ... beadboard transforms any room!
ReplyDeleteOK, I need a bathroom like this.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fantastic makeover, and goes to show that you don't need to make major changes to have major impact. Just hiding the washer & dryer is a fantastic idea that's a huge improvement, plus it creates a large surface to put things on. And all the shelving is fantastic!!

Adorable site!!
ReplyDeleteSloped ceiling really are a pain in the backside. I bump my head every Saturday when I have to vacuum upstairs. They look cool though :)
ReplyDeleteHi !
ReplyDeleteI just discover your blog, it's wonderful ! I'm adding it in my fav's and I'll visit it everyday.
Happy Thanksgiving !
Very impressive makeover. The transformation is stunning, I love the new look. The mirror is absolutely gorgeous, any idea where it's from?
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend
Warm wishes

No idea where the mirror comes from, but they might mention it on the Better Homes and Gardens website that I found it on (bhg.com). -Julia
ReplyDeleteOh, I do love Mr. Grant. Of course, tonight I'll be watching It's a Wonderful Life instead. We always do just after Thanksgiving. It kicks off our Christmas season just perfectly.
ReplyDeleteHi, this bathroom is beautiful:)I have a question about walls- it's a panel wood or plastic panel?

ReplyDeleteSorry, but I'm not sure about the walls. You might go to Better Homes & Gardens' website to see if there's more detail about this room there (bhg.com). -Julia
I never cared for white but I have to say this do-over looks beautiful. It makes me want to redo my half bath in those colors. I like the soft blue and tan hues for accent colors.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to find this bathroom at BHG but no luck so far. I would love to get some more details about it, it is gorgeous. Do you have the link to the page on BHG?
ReplyDeleteSorry, Marianne, but it looks like they took it down. I couldn't find it, either. When I originally saw it, it was on their front page, but that was several months ago.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing makeover, I love it!
ReplyDeleteBy the way... thanks for entering my giveaway!
I remember seeing this and loving it the first time I saw it! Beadboard and white-don't think you can ever go wrong with that combo!
